The
Barbash award was instituted in 2000 in honor of Robert
Barbash, the first recipient of the award that bears his
name.Mr.
Barbash was a member of the Cable Television Task Force that
was organized in 1985 to explore the development of a cable
television access channel for CentreCounty.The task force’s report, issued in March of 1986,
found that there was support for the development of such a
channel among local elected officials and
CentreCounty residents.
Mr.
Barbash served as C-NET’s first Board President from 1988 to 1989.He continued to serve in various capacities on the
Board of Directors until 1999, when he retired from the State CollegeAreaSchool District.
The
Robert Barbash award is presented each year to an individual
in recognition of outstanding leadership and contributions
in support of C-NET.
