Production Volunteers
Production volunteering at C-NET is a multi-stage process. After
completing the training stage, you will have the opportunity to advance
through our two additional levels of volunteering.
Level 1 – Training
During the training period, you will become familiar with camera and audio
equipment, its set-up, and operation. This will be accomplished through both a
formal training session and on-the-job training.
Level 2 – Production
Once you have gained the ability to set-up equipment without staff
assistance, and have increased your skill level in operating the equipment to
a level deemed necessary by the staff, you will be promoted to the level of
Production Volunteer. At this level, you will continue to increase your skill
level, and also assist in the training of new volunteers.
Level 3 - Advanced Production
As your skill level continues to increase and you acquire troubleshooting
skills, you will be promoted to the level of Volunteer Producer. At this
level, the staff feels confident in your ability to lead your own crew on a
shoot. It is at this point you will also be given the opportunity to edit
programs.

Internships/Volunteering for Credit
Penn State students enrolled in the College of Communications have been
approved to receive up to three internship credits for their volunteer
hours at C-NET. If you are interested in volunteering for credit, you
should follow the regular internship procedures as outlined by the
college. Each credit requires 67 hours of work that is to be completed
throughout the semester. Interns use a sign in sheet to keep track of
their hours.

Note of Thanks and Appreciation
In addition to gaining valuable hands-on experience, you are donating
your time to provide a great service to our organization and in-part
helping to enhance communication channels in Centre County. You are
helping to provide local residents with access to local government and
school board proceedings, a variety of community events and sports, and
much more. On behalf of C-NET and the community, we sincerely thank you.
